So here are a few “do and don’ts” and facts of what women want in order for you to get it right. The hardest part is definitely to find the right ring. The easy part is to ask the question, just take a deep breath and remember, it’s only for the rest of your life!
The tradition of the Engagement ring
Here is a little history to get you into the mood. The tradition of the engagement ring started in the year 1477 where a lovesick Austrian named Archduke Maximillian gave his loved, Mary of Burgundy, a diamond ring to celebrate their love. The tale further states that, when presenting the ring, Archduke Maximillian placed it on Mary of Burgundy’s third finger on her left hand, which then let to symbolize that the this particular finger had a vein that led straight to the heart.
Today, the story is still beautiful however, the ring has to be just as exceptional and reflect your love for your chosen one.
We know! It' is like the wild wild west when hunting for the right engagement ring. So these few tricks might calm you down a bit. Trust us she will analyze the ring and consider this as the trophy of your love. So you DO want to get it right,
1. What what's her style
When choosing the perfect engagement ring, a good way to start is to keep an open eye on what your girl’s favourite jewellery is. You have to consider whether she is the type of woman who likes to wear something classic and simple or if she’d rather go for something bold and adventurous.
2. Try to pinpoint her taste
Try to remember how she reacts when seeing her friend’s engagement rings. If she has a pretty clear opinion on the look of these rings, then try to pinpoint her taste that way. Does she wear other types of jewellery eg. earrings, necklaces, bracelets and are these items in yellow gold, rose gold or white gold. Does she like colours or not?
Don’t buy her something according to your own taste, but try to capture what you know she desires.
3. Aim for uniqueness
The storytelling in jewellery is crucial. If you go for a unique ring, for instance with a special stone or from a specific designer, you can always wrap it in a beautiful personal story. Maybe the stone has a story that matches your story or the design or something that matches the story of the two of you.
Aim for a unique piece of jewellery maybe try something with coloured gemstones instead of diamonds. Gemstones are really having a revitalization these days and lots of people are mixing gemstones with diamonds in their engagement rings, which looks amazing!
4. Does an engagement ring have to be huge
The final question you will have to ask yourself is: “does an engagement ring have to be huge? and does it have to hold a huge diamond?
In our opinion, no. A ring with diamonds or gems will always be beautiful as every single diamond is special in its own way, but why not invest in carat and clarity, right. And why not invest in the uniqueness of the design and the value of the gold instead of only focusing on the stone
